Fran McGaughey graduated in 1957 from McMurry College in Abilene, Texas. She also attended North Texas State University. Fran taught school in Irving, Texas to put her husband through SMU graduate school. The next many years were devoted to their four children. In 1985 she had the time to earn a degree in Music Performance from West Chester University. For her this was pure joy. When she discovered the Celtic harp, her life took an abrupt turn. Now she lives to compose, arrange, play in the Brandywine Harp Orchestra and other ensembles. These ensembles perform much of the music she has arranged or composed, and Fran feels lucky!
