Pamela Bruner has transcribed three of her performance quality pieces into easy-to-read music notation for your playing enjoyment. The titles are Mist and Moonlight, Rosita’s Song and Rorschach in D Minor. These are challenging pieces of intermediate to upper intermediate level. They are rhythmically and harmonically interesting, with glissandos, grace notes, syncopation, LH crossunders, and other harpistic techniques. Rosita’s Song is on the CD Music in the Glen, Mist and Moonlight is on the CD of the same title, and Rorschach is on the CD An Abundance of Time. 13 pages of exciting harp music!

Play the Harp Beautifully by Pamela Bruner: The harp world has long awaited a book like this! Teachers can supplement existing learning books, or students can use this to teach themselves! Valuable explanations on string location, electronic tuner usage, hand position, and much more. Hand position pictures in this book are valuable and helpful, leaving no question on how to hold your hands at the harp. Notes are large, easy-to-read and Ms. Bruner moves slowly enough to grasp the necessary concepts needed for good technique and tone. Anyone using this book will have a firm concept about theory, fingering & brackets, and come to the harp with confidence. Also gives a solid explanation of placing, which is essential to playing lyrically and with good phrasing. This is clearly one of the finest methods books available for harp.
Although originally intended to be performed as duets, the pieces can also work nicely as solos by playing the harp 1 part and omitting Harp 2. The Highlander’s Farewell to Ireland is a wire harp solo. The designations “gut or nylon harp” and “Celtic harp” are interchangeable; the “gut or nylon” distinction is made in the pieces that call for wire-strung harp as Harp II in order to clarify the need for the two distinct sound colors. Harmonics are played where written. Fingerings are generally omitted except for damping suggestions in “The Highlander’s Farewell”, in which they are very useful! This book has recently been revised. It contains only the score, with harp 1 and harp 2 on the same page. Page turns have been adjusted so they are as easy as possible.
